Construction Site Security

Construction sites are easy targets for the opportunist thief; the high value of plant and equipment can lead to quick and easy profit for the successful thief. Depending on locality, each site will have its own issues of concern. Construction sites are subject to a number of threats, against which security should be applied by the site operator. These include theft, vandalism and deliberate damage and terrorism.

Event Security

In the UK, the private and public sectors spend around £4 billion a year on private security. This has created an economically important and politically significant industry; one that employs over 250,000 people. This is no small figure considering there are only around 155,000 police officers in England, Wales and Scotland.

Home Security

When leaving your home, even for a short period, always lock all external doors and windows and set your burglar alarm (if you have one). If you are going away for a longer time, use a timer or sensor to control your lighting so your home looks occupied. Make sure you cancel your milk and newspaper deliveries while you’re away.

High Praise For Security Firm

Lindsay - Ruislip, Residential Security Services

In January 2016, my wife and I became responsible for a property in Great Holland, which became vacant following a family bereavement.

Empty properties are always vulnerable to attack by burglars, squatters and vandals, and we sought some means of security.

We were guided by a neighbour to Aurora Global Solutions (AGS), of Holland-on-Sea, to provide security and entered into a contract for the provision of regular visits to the property.

Having read critical reports online and in the press about AGS, I feel, in fairness, I should bring to the attention of your readers the high quality of service provided by the company

The property has now been sold and the services are no longer required, but I would have no hesitation in recommending this company to anyone seeking property security.

News In Brief

Surrey Police and Sussex Police harness mobile technology to increase time officers spend on the frontline

Airwave Solutions Limited, a Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) company, in partnership with O2 today announce that over 3,000 frontline Surrey Police and Sussex Police officers are now using specialist mobile technology to improve frontline policing and reporting.

Telecommunications company EE demonstrated a variety of ways it will maintain ESN coverage should sites go down

It showed one of a fleet of 32 4x4 rapid response vehicles that will be used to provide temporary coverage. The vehicle was unveiled alongside other solutions at the Oval cricket ground in London earlier this year.

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is looking to reduce the current £220 three-year application fee, the minutes of the January 2017 board meeting of the SIA suggest.

According to the minutes, a ‘fee reduction submission’ from the SIA is now sitting with the Home Office. As background, the SIA has to live within its means – meaning that it is not supposed to go cap in hand to the Government for cash to tide it over; ever since it began taking money for licences in the mid-2000s, it has had peaks and troughs of income as the mainly door staff renew every three years.
